I am new to the Snapmaker and I am trying to figure out how to convert a 2D picture in to a 3D image in order for me to carve it on to my medium. To start with I just purchased my machine so it currently has not arrived just yet. I am trying to understand the program so that when I receive it I can get started right away.
Have you read through this?

Relief : You need to upload greyscale images, and the layering effect is based on the different shades of color on your original images. You can use Carving V-Bit in Relief mode.
Or other parts depending on what you’re attempting to carve.

I am a newbie to the snapmaker and the thing I want to learn is how to take a photo and render it for 3d carving. I’ve used photoshop for years, so i can easily remove backgrounds and identify the “subject” I want to carve, but, how to I render it into an appropriate 3d grayscale image? For example, if I wanted to 3d carve my cockatoo from a photo I have, her beak is black but her body is white…this would make her beak protrude while her white feathers would be depressed into the carving. How…
