Are there others out there who have had a terrible time with SnOrca 2.3.0 and Firmware 1.2.0? I can’t easily tell if the issue is with the Firmware or SnOrca.
Since the updates I cannot reliably connect. I suspect it is the firmware because prior to the app update for iOS I was having issues communicating with it also once FW 1.2.0 was loaded.
I have to regularly make 3-4 attempts to upload a print job to the printer now to get it to work successfully.
Prior to this was never an issue so more curious if I’m unique or others have the same problems before opening a ticket.
It took me 2.5 hours today to upload a file. In the end, I had to turn the U1 off and on three times and restart Snorca at least five times. Although Snorca constantly claimed the device was offline, pressing the home button on the U1 actually performed the action.
Unfortunately, I also restarted my computer in the meantime without realizing that the Prusa 3S was being controlled via Ponterface over USB. 13 out of 16 hours and a lot of material wasted!
I’ll give the previous version another download and try it again then. Sounds like something could be broke. I think a lot of the issues are around this cloud interface as there are a lot of AWS communications errors I see and I’m constantly disconnected and needing to login again.
Perhaps LAN mode would fix a lot of these troubles.
SnOrca is Bambu Studio in different colours. Crashing, freezing, slow loading, ridiculously slow connecting with the printer… I’ve given up on it and just use Orca now. It’s stable and it works.
How can I use Generic PLA in normal Orca? I don’t see the option and I’m having trouble setting it up. Do I need to edit a different filament brand to make that profile
Bambu Studio is much better than Snorca, by a mile. I’m about ready to give up on Snorca and go with Orca. I hope now that the U1 is being mass produced and successful, Snapmaker starts putting more money and resources into Snorca. Whoever heads up that department is either overwhelmed or just not very good.
For me it has been happening over three different firmware versions and also two different SnOrca versions.
It seems to be the cloud services causing the issue.
Today, as a test, I switched my printer into LAN mode and I haven’t seen any unstable or timeout messages yet, both in SnOrca and in the Android Mobile app.
SnOrca is still very slow to startup for me (even in LAN mode), but at least it’s more stable in LAN Mode.
I still want Snapmaker to fix these issues, because in LAN mode, I can’t remotely monitor my printer!
Today I had to force-close S orca again via the Task Manager after a “device offline” message appeared and I couldn’t close the upload window → only Bing audio from the speaker with every mouse click, and no response to any keys or key combinations.
The joke is, the U1 camera was running continuously in Snorca in the background of the upload window on the same machine!
Had this issue since taking out the box , would upload the file then it would timeout during upload or once I select the printer by the time ive set the filament i get network unstable then disconnects , take a good 5 6 tries , I thought it was my laptop because it was only 8gb that’s the minimum snapmaker orca needs to run to brought a 16 gb ram laptop & it’s the same , I’ve got contacted support & got sent some firmware to try , still the same it’s very frustrating, your think for a printer that raised millions to produce the technology it would atleast have a stable WiFi connection , I also keep getting an error pop up while it printing saying tool head anomaly but it’s keeps printing , support says that normal just cancel it off , I love the U1 but its got so many little bugs that needs fixing , if the firmware was the same as my Bambu it would be 10/10 printer ATM I rate a 7/10 , would also be nice if the camera didn’t time out it’s very frustrating when trying to livestream from a screen capture, Bambu has a option to keep camera on while printing the U1 doesn’t even have any camera settings you can edit , hopefully snapmaker gets the firmware dialed in soon
