This is for plugging in a USB drive to copy the machine’s local time-lapse videos.

Ok thanks. The “Add-on” pinout as well, not just the USB port? I’m wondering if the “Add-on” pinout can be used to trigger a fan or other but I don’t see any specs on it.

I did everything you said, it activated, the RPM shows no problem, but my only issue is that the PWM speed adjustment doesn’t work. When I plug it in, the fan stops, and when I remove the blue PWM indicator, it only works at one speed. Do you have any information about this? Can you help me?

I came across an interesting lid design on Bilibili that moves the four ingredient trays inside the lid. This means the lid needs to be sturdy, preferably made of aluminum alloy. The upside is that the filament no longer needs separate preheating, but the downside is that you’ll need to buy longer USB cables. It’s strange that no one has pursued this direction yet. I already have a concept in mind and plan to build it soon.

I think his design could be improved. The material frame could use 1515 aluminum alloy, and the filament feed could be changed to a top-cover slide-out style. If anyone has better ideas, feel free to share them.

I actually didn’t know there were model files available for the U1. Is there an official place to get them?

I don’t think so, but if you search “snapmaker u1” in the usual 3D model libraries (eg Thingiverse, Makerworld…) you’ll find plenty of third-party designs for printable accessories, including top covers.

But this is not at all what I asked for 🙂

I did a lot of searching for U1 models of the machine itself, which is what was discussed and haven’t found anything close to a U1 CAD file.

The person I replied to implied they found a link but that it didn’t work for them. I’d like to try that link and see if it for some reason works for me.

I don’t need printable upgrades, I can make my own. If I get my hands on the file. I know it exists as I’ve seen people discuss it a couple of weeks ago but forgot to ask.

So you didn’t find this?:

- If you want to design the top cover yourself, here’s the 3D model of the U1 enclosure and key structures I reverse-engineered, packed as an STP file.

I checked with the staff: the chamber temperature can go up to 60 °C, so PLA is out . Unless you plan to never print high-temp materials in winter. So pick a filament whose glass-transition temperature is above 60 °C. The cheap, easy choices are ABS, PC, or PETG. 2.Besides acrylic, are there any other options for the clear cover? Oh, the “not invented here” attitude. Why spend hours or days perfecting your own design when you can leverage somebody else’s contribution in 5 minutes? OK, not always exactly what you might want, but if it’s good enough it saves a great deal of time and mental energy to apply more usefully elsewhere. Pay forward.

Hi there, I’m not very experienced with communities and such, and I couldn’t really find what I was looking for. So, I’ve built a fully functional fan controller (controllable via a U1 display) for a DIY Top Hat. The special feature is that you can use all kinds of inexpensive 12V fans (2, 3, or 4-pin). All fans are PWM-controlled, including both the inner and outer fans.

I still had to make some small changes to the .config; attached is the final version. I had issues with the internal fan when printing with PetG and ASA/ABS. Everything is now running smoothly.
